Supervising Physician
Michael Armstrong, Jr, MD is the owner and supervising physician at Advanced Otolaryngology. He is board-certified in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is a certified Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. He is the Chief of Staff of the Stony Point Surgery Center, formerly called the Richmond Eye and Ear Hospital. For more information on Dr. Armstrong, click here.

Dr. Shaw is welcoming new patients of all ages for ENT consultations. His areas of special interest include reconstructive surgery of the head and neck, rhinoplasty and skin cancer. For more information on Dr. Shaw, click here.

Becky L. Andrews MSN, FNP has worked with Dr. Armstrong since 2001, after receiving her master's degree from UVa. She has special interest in pediatric ENT, but treat adults and children of all ages.

Martha J. Mundy, RN, MSN, FNP jointed Advanced Otolaryngology in September 2008. She graduated from the University of Mary Washington in 2005 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. She went on to earn a second Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Virginia Commonwealth University. She then worked at the Medical College of Virginia as an inpatient pediatric nurse while she earned her Masters in Nursing from VCU finishing in May of 2008. She was certified in July of 2008 as a family nurse practitioner. She is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.
Nursing staff:
Dana Mills, LPN and Gina Taylor, LPN (left and center) both joined Advanced Otolaryngology in 2008, after working at the Rainbow House, a day care center that specializes in caring for children who are too sick to attend their regular school or day care. They perform allergy testing and injections under the supervision of Dr. Armstrong and they assist our nurse practitioners Martha Mundy and Becky Andrews.

Certified Audiologist and Hearing Aid Specialist
Shantell Lewis, AuD, is a certified audiologist and hearing aid specialist. A native of Richmond, she has been with us since 2005 and performs our hearing examinations and hearing aid fittings. For more information on Shantell, click here.

Surgical Coordinator
Vicky Yates, our surgical coordinator, is also a certified medical assistant and our medical records clerk. Except for the years 2001-2005, she has worked with Dr. Armstrong since his first year of practice in 1995. She is the key contact for scheduling and administrative issues regarding your surgery.
Vanessa Briggs
Senior Receptionist
Vanessa Briggs is a senior receptionist who joined Dr. Armstrong in 2002. Prior to that, she had extensive experience at the Medical College of Virginia outpatient clinics. You will likely see her smiling face when you check out after your visit.
Blossom Eggleston
Front Desk Receptionist
Blossom Eggleston is our front desk receptionist. This hard-working employee is responsible for entering all the demographic data necessary to process your bills through the insurance company. Please help her by completing requested paperwork in advance, and always be sure you have your current insurance card and referral (if needed). Although we try to see patients on time, it is not possible to predict or control the length of each office visit. If there is anything she can do to make your wait more comfortable, please ask.
Georgia Burton & Vernice Washington
Billing Specialists
Georgia Burton and Vernice Washington are our billing specialists. Both joined Advanced Otolaryngology in 2006 and have taken the company through a difficult process of transferring from paper to electronic claims submission. If you have any question about your bill, they will be happy to review it with you.
