Other Information

Insurance

We accept most major insurance plans in the Richmond area. We do not accept Tricare. Patients with Southern Health are eligible for coverage only during sinus and facial plastic surgery.

A referral from your primary care provider is required if your insurance is with Aetna, Cigna, Healthkeepers, Southern Health, Key Advantage, US Healthcare, BC/BS POS, Chartered Health, Cost Alliance, Medicaid-Medallion, Medicare with HMO, Optimum Choice, Qualcare, Sentara, or One Health.

If you participate in one of these HMOs, it is your responsibility to obtain the referral. Most delays are due to incomplete referral or insurance information. You will be responsible for your bill if you are seen without appropriate insurance information and referral.

Information for Parents of Small Children

Our dedicated staff and pediatric examination rooms create a unique environment for children that is both caring and informative:

  • Your children will feel comfortable in our specialized "play rooms"
  • Our highly trained staff allows thorough, unhurried patient and family education.
  • Video otoscopy allows you and your child to see the disease in your child's ear.
  • All surgeries are performed personally and caringly by Dr. Armstrong, who is double board-certified in otolaryngology - head and neck surgery and in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.

What to expect when you arrive

Upon arrival at our office, our receptionist will verify your insurance information and prepare your chart as quickly as possible. Please relax, enjoy a cup of fresh coffee, and let your children play.

A medical assistant or nurse practitioner will invite you into the examining room as promptly as possible. She will take an initial history, and can answer most of your questions about common ear, nose and throat disorders. If you or your child is here to consider surgery, she may show you a videotape to help explain the procedure. Patients with hearing loss, tinnitus, vertigo, suspected ear disease or speech delay will normally receive a hearing test on the first visit as well. Dr. Armstrong will be in shortly to review the history, complete your examination, and make recommendations.

Allergy Shots

We offer allergy shots Monday and Thursday, 7:30-4:30
